After 20 years in newsrooms and leading communications teams, Rich launched a professional art practice in 2022, returning to a lifelong joy that has always lingered just off stage left.
He is a self-taught visual artist who works primarily in pencil and graphite, using fundamental tools and subtle details to draw viewers in. Through his depictions of people and places, landscapes and scenes, he seeks to precisely translate by hand what people feel when they encounter images of deep meaning to them. He finds drawing to be a natural path to explore our intrinsically human capacities for amazement, connection and fondness for important subjects or moments in our lives.
He lives in New Orleans with his patient wife, two unflagging children, and a bearded dragon.

He hasn’t completely forsaken the pen. He continues to help organizations with research, media relations, messaging campaigns, and copy for websites, newsletters, and the like. Drop him a line if you’re looking for help with a writing project.
